Lesson 19 – Is the Catholic Eucharist in the Bible?
On the night before Jesus died, he celebrated the Last Supper, and said there “Do this in memory of me.” When St. Paul wrote his first letter to the Corinthians, he recalls this and says, “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” What does this have to do with what the Catholic Church calls the Eucharist? Is the Catholic Eucharist in the Bible?
Excerpt from the gospel of John, c. 6:
If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world” (Jn 6:52).
